ABOUT

  

Cascade Power Project is a 900 megawatt (MW) combined cycle power generation facility being constructed in Yellowhead County, approximately 12 KM southwest of Edson, Alberta. 


The Project will be located on crown lands on a 52-hectare site and will have the capacity to supply over 8% of the province’s average electricity demand.  The facility will utilize modern, highly efficient industrial turbines, fueled by natural gas, and will commence operations in 2023.

  • Facility: High-efficiency, combined cycle natural gas-fired generating facility 
  • Capacity: 900 MW
  • Technology:  2 Siemens SCC6-8000H Power Trains 
  • Fuel: Natural gas 
  • Commercial Operations: 2023
  • Total Construction Costs: $1.5 Billion 

CASCADE ACHIEVES POSITIVE FINAL INVESTMENT DECISION

 The Cascade Power Project was sanctioned on August 27, 2020 and construction has commenced
